How is Eyelid surgery(Blepharoplasty) performed?
Upper eyelid aesthetics is a surgical procedure applied to treat the sagging skin on the eyelid, so it is also known as eyelid drooping surgery. In the upper eyelid procedure, an incision is made in the fold line of the eyelid to remove excess skin and adipose tissue that restricts the field of vision. Thanks to this incision, fat deposits are cleaned and excess skin is cut and removed, the eyelid is reshaped to eliminate sagging. The upper eyelid correction surgery can be performed in 2 ways. The upper eyelid correction can be anesthetized in the clinic under local anesthesia. The above also slide correction is an easy treatment that can be performed under local anesthesia. Under local anesthesia is cheaper than general local anesthesia. The 2nd option is anesthesia under general anaestial testimony in the hospital. When upper and lower eyelid correction is needed, the only option is general anastensia.
Lower eyelid surgery is not a stand-alone surgery and is usually performed in combination with upper eyelid surgery, depending on the person’s needs. In lower eyelid surgery, an incision is made just below the eyelashes and the eyelid skin is lifted upwards. The fat pads are spread to the eye, eliminating the collapse and discoloration under the eyes.
Upper eyelid surgery is performed under local anesthesia and combined operation under general anesthesia. The eyelid aesthetic procedure takes an average of 1-2 hours. The duration of the procedure may be extended depending on the job to be done. The patient is discharged the same day. Mild headache or nausea may be experienced due to the anesthesia.
Is there any scar after Eyelid surgery(Blepharoplasty)?
In upper eyelid surgeries, the incision scars remain at the crease of the eyelid, and at the bottom of the eyelashes in the lower eyelid surgeries. These scars fade away on the upper lid after the 1st month, and on the lower lid after the 2nd month. However We always recommend using a scar cream to help improving the appearance.
After an Eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Swelling, bruising, blurred vision and edema during the first 10 days are common side effects after the surgery. Dissolving stitches are used during the treatment and wear off within 1 month. The recovery period is short. After 3 days, you can return back to your activities.
